We served BBQ sandwiches for lunch that day. We saw a brief presentation on new iPads lucky members had purchased at the beginning of the day before splitting off into casual groups.

Our planned photo shoot at Dow Gardens was cancelled due to rain. So we met and discussed various photographic topics at the church instead.

We covered different methods of trimming clips so they “fit” into one project timeline. We also covered one or two SHORT “Improve Your Camera Techniques” at this meeting.

Randy Walker presented an excellent talk on “Mandatory Mac Maintenance,” with tips on easy maintenance tasks that will help keep your Mac in tip-top shape. You can download the pdf of his talk here.

The DISIG group had three presentations; Ann Hotchkiss showed travel pictures (Technical redo), Ron Browne enlightened us on doing street photography, Lynn Dumbrille talked about macro photography tools, hardware, and basic techniques.

Doug Leng spoke about iTunes in depth at the general MiaMUG meeting this month. He also covered Wire- Tap Studio, an application that allows you to record and add effects to audio on your Mac. Finally, David Morgan spoke about using the TV-out feature on a video-capable iPod or iPhone.

This month Mike PJ joined Donald Boys and Doug Leng to present different photo sharing web sites. They covered MobileMe photo galleries, Flickr, and Photoshop.com.

January 16, 2010 (DISIG)

The DISIG group had an iMovie-related topic this month. First, Lynn Dumbrille gave a presentation on Photoshop Elements 8, including an overview of it’s features, a bit of philosophy, and a short demo of the software. Then, Rich Weiler demonstrated how to give a presentation of photos in iMovie. Rich added music and titles, then burned the video to DVD.

At this meeting, some of the logistics of the SIG were discussed, such as deciding an ongoing meeting time and place.

A review was given of our club's offerings by several of our board members. We celebrated with our annual Christmas party.

A 20-minute movie was seen that wraped up the series on portraits. The group then participated in planning what needs to be covered in 2010.

November 14, 2009 (MIAMUG)

This day-long meeting was a MacCamp and was a great success. Just under 60 people attended, and there was a lot of great discussion throughout the day. About a half dozen people installed Snow Leopard on their Macs, and as far as I know everyone’s upgrade has gone smoothly. Thanks to everyone who helped make this MacCamp possible.

October 17, 2009 (DISIG)

This meeting, expanded our prior experience based on lessons learned and use additional equipment. We talked about mixing flash with continuous lighting and demonstrated Nikon’s Camera Control Pro 2. This gave us a live view of what the camera sees displayed on the projector screen. We used only one workstation this time with more control on the quality of pictures.

Social Networking was the topic for this Saturday’s meeting. Mary Nesset introduced us to Facebook, Dan Lacher talked about Twitter and Mike PJ discussed LinkedIn. This was an informative and useful presentation.

Lynn Dumbrille conducted a workshop. Groups of 2-3 people shared a Mac and performed image touch-ups using operations such as crop, select, copy, paste, transform, sizing, blend, burn, dodge, adjustment layers, paint bucket, sharpen, saturate, tone, white balance, and a filter.
